Job description
This post is full time and permanent, working 35 hours per week.
We will also consider applications to work as a job share, or part-time. The University supports hybrid working e.g. working from home on days when no teaching or other student-facing activities are scheduled.
The School of Media and Communication at Westminster is looking for three lecturers to join our thriving Creative Technology and Design team, to support the growth in this area. Our BA Graphic Design and our BA Illustration are growing quickly, and our new BA in Games Art comes on stream in 2024. We have created three new posts in response to this growth, which give you the opportunity to help develop our teaching in the areas of XR and Design, Interactive Design, and Graphic Design.
We are currently building a new Games Hub learning space at Harrow campus, as well as doubling the capacity of the Emerging Media Space, which includes XR and other new technologies. These spaces are supported by technicians.
The Lecturer in XR and Design will be part of the BA Graphic Design team, teaching students on that BA and across the suite of Creative Technology and Design courses. This will include working with colleagues to develop and deliver modules in:
Reality VR AR and MR- UX / UI
- Digital Arts
- Designing for Games
- UX and App design
You will have the opportunity to lead some modules, and may be considered for the role of deputy course leader on the BA Graphic Design.
We are looking for a candidate with experience in both teaching and professional practice in the area of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, AI and graphic design. Support and training are available, and we encourage all new Lecturers to complete the Post Graduate Certificate in HE, run within the University for colleagues at no cost.
Our Creative Technology and Design students learn through studio practice and experiential learning, working collaboratively with students from other year groups and courses. Scheduled learning includes lectures, briefings, work reviews, seminars, workshops, working on live projects, student awards and competitions and visiting industry professionals.
If you would like to be considered for more than one of these new posts, please submit one application, and indicate at the top of your personal statement which posts you would like to be considered for.
