We are looking for a Lecturer to join our lively and committed team, contributing to the delivery of social work education and research at Sheffield Hallam University. Located within the College of Health Wellbeing and Life Sciences, the Department of Social Work is committed to a programme of inter professional learning and staff members actively contribute to teaching and research across the social work/social care agenda both nationally and internationally.
You’ll contribute to the teaching learning and assessment of students on BA, MA and Post Qualifying programme and will have a broad remit across the subject area. This includes teaching preparation and delivery, leading modules, contributing to dissertation supervision and research and knowledge exchange. You'll also contribute to the development of new and exciting programmes and help to shape the curriculum through your professional experience and your critical, practical and theoretical understanding of social work and social care.
Qualified to degree level or equivalent, you will be registered with Social Work England (SWE) and have substantial post qualifying social work experience. This is an excellent opportunity to further your career in a higher education setting and would be suitable for those wishing to move into higher education. Whilst HE teaching is not essential you will have experience of planning and delivering teaching or training and the ability to work as part of a team as well as individually.
Well-developed communication and organisational skills are essential alongside a commitment to anti-oppressive practice. Evidence of a contribution to knowledge in your field and an interest in developing your own research interests would be an advantage.
If you are offered this post you will be subject to an enhanced with barred lists check by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working at Sheffield Hallam University but its relevance to the duties of the post will need to be assessed before the appointment is confirmed.
Sheffield Hallam welcomes applications from all candidates irrespective of age, pregnancy and maternity, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief, or marital or civil partnership status.
The University may be able to sponsor the employment of international applicants in this role; this will depend on a number of factors specific to the individual applicant.
