An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the occupational therapy tutor team at Wrexham University in a lecturing capacity to meet the needs of increasing pre-registration student numbers. The vacancy arises at an exciting time for the University and in meeting a 10-year commissioning contract for healthcare subjects bringing opportunities, development for the faculty and new campus facilities.

The department prides itself on a student-centred focus, ranking highly in the UK for student satisfaction and teaching quality (NSS, 2023). The tutor team is committed to delivering high quality occupational therapy education across the subject, currently ranked 3rd for Student Satisfaction (Complete University Guide, 2024). The University is first for inclusion in England and Wales for the fifth year running and top 10 in the UK for teaching quality in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023. The tutor team aims to generate occupational therapy graduate practitioners who are fit for contemporary practice in all health and social care areas and beyond into the third / independent sector area and has excellent graduate employability outcomes.

We are seeking a person to join the team who is an experienced occupational therapist with strong clinical knowledge and skills from any area of practice. We would particularly welcome applications from those with a physical/ acute background. We would welcome applications from individuals from a clinical background looking to move into an academic role and those who have experience in higher education. The successful applicant will be able to inspire students, facilitating pre-registration education through curriculum delivery across all levels. The successful post holder must enjoy being part of a small and cohesive team where you will have a contributory role across the subject area, allied health and the faculty, including being actively engaged as a personal tutor and supporting students whilst on placement.

Evidence of Master’s level study is essential and Welsh language speaking is desirable. The post holder must hold current membership with the professional body, Royal College of Occupational Therapists and be HCPC registered. There is scope for career progression to senior lecturer grading and development opportunities including a teaching qualification, leading to fellow status with Advance HE. All applicants invited to interview will be expected to undertake a micro-teach activity to a small group, based on a relevant subject to the role.
