Job description
This post is full time and permanent, working 35 hours per week.
Westminster School of Arts (WSA) are seeking an ambitious Lecturer in Fashion Design to work at undergraduate level on our successful and internationally renowned BA Fashion Design course.
This post requires someone with specific expertise in creative fashion design with a strong awareness of the volatile nature of the fashion environment. You must have practical experience within a fashion design studio or atelier environment, with a professional and academic profile commensurate with the stage of your career.
You will have experience in developing and delivering teaching and student-centred learning, with knowledge of fashion design practice surrounding the translation of designs into fashion.
An important part of this role are excellent administrative, planning, and organisational skills essential to this role where you will take responsibility in areas such as admissions, timetabling, assessment of student progress and attendance, collaborating with colleagues on the implementation of assessment procedures, contributing towards the accreditation of courses and quality control.
The ability to engage in current debates, and a familiarisation with standards and regulations towards awareness of diversity and ethical issues as they relate to the fashion industry will also be expected. You will possess an excellent understanding of quality and standards in HE and curriculum development in the field of fashion.
You will be expected to hold a post-graduate or professional qualification, with a view to developing your research. A Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or a PG Cert HE would also be an advantage, and the successful candidate will be expected to achieve this status within their first year in the post if they have not already done so.
