What will the role involve?
This is a great opportunity to join us as a permanent Lecturer of Architecture and Design team to deliver outstanding and innovative research-led and industry-engaged teaching across our five Architecture and Design programmes.
Our programmes have a strong pedigree in delivering excellence in teaching and provide a high-quality experience for our students, firmly rooted in academic achievement and current and future practice-based relevance. Our graduates make a positive difference in industry and academia by holding leadership positions in organisations and academic institutions across the world.
Architecture is part of the Directorate of Sustainable Built and Natural Environments and as a future member you will be part of our diverse team of research active staff. Candidates should demonstrate an active research profile, and be able to demonstrate experience of high-quality, student-centred teaching across a range of architecture and design related subjects.
Given the barriers facing female researchers, and those from black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, we strongly encourage applications from these groups. We are also open to applications from those with non-traditional career paths, including those with family, caring or health-related career breaks, or those who have moved to academia from a career in another sector.

- Lead and co-ordinate the work of other staff to ensure module, programme, enterprise or research project is delivered to the standards required.
- Plan, co-ordinate and implement research programmes or engagement projects; organise external activities such as student projects, field trips and industrial placements; manage or monitor research or engagement budgets and ensure effective use of resource; organise administrative duties
- Foster the development of an inclusive community, using teaching approaches which encourage inclusivity, working in partnership with students to improve their sense of belonging, diversifying the curriculum and using approaches to inclusive assessment to close the award gap
- You will bring with you experience of designing and delivering research-led studio teaching, in addition to good knowledge of construction technology in architecture, particularly in advanced and digital approaches in spatial and tectonic design to address global challenges, such as the climate emergency.
