Job description
Colas North West Contracting are looking for an experienced Surfacing Site agent in Liverpool to ensure the efficient delivery of all secured contracts ensuring management of Key Client expectations / contracts whilst ensuring the compliance with all Quality procedures and safe working practices.
Undertaking all works to the highest possible Health, Safety and environmental standards and acting within financial authorities, in respect of contract revenue and expenditure.
Main Responsibilities
Responsible for the delivery of all activities within the surfacing departing, ensure all schemes have the relevant pre scheme site specific checks carried out prior to arriving on site, a smooth handover for all schemes, including hand over of the Scheme pack provided by Operations Manager.
Allocate resources and plant to schemes in line with the build ups provided by the Operations Manager, ensure all materials are booked and correct in line with the scheme specification and build ups provided by the Surfacing Manager, correct Start of Shift briefings are carried out to ensure the gangs are fully informed of their work and responsibilities for each shift, including ensuring specific risks are identified in the scheme pack, produce and manage weekly programmes for all labour and plant, collect and approve all time sheets from the Sub Agents, collect and approve/Input all Weekly record sheets ensuring everything has been correctly allocated and utilised, update Cost Capture system to allow the applications to be raised in a timely manner.
Monitor Plant utilisation and inform Operations Manager of any standing plant or labour on a weekly basis, chair and minute monthly Foreman Meetings with the Foremen and Sub Agents, carry out investigation meetings including for any potential disciplinary issues, encourage Near Miss and MSO reporting through the Foreman and Subagents, all Near Miss and MSO’s must be reported through the correct company procedures, carry out and encourage Toolbox talks through the whole team, record all toolbox talks delivered on the Share drive registers
Ensure all operatives have the correct PPE available at all times, all PPE distributed must be recorded and the PPE registers updated, Foreman and Sub agents to carry PPE in the vehicles to allow for emergencies, ensure all plant defects are reported to the P&T department, any defects not being rectified must be escalated to the plant and transport manager.
The Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will be able to promote and encourage safety/environmental awareness in the business, encouraging a zero tolerance to unsafe acts and a zero target for LTIs and safety, environmental incidents.
Provide good Engineering knowledge and understanding to all works ensuring compliance with all Industry Specifications and standards, along with understanding requirements of the Works Information, provide leadership, motivation and direction to all site personnel
Ensure thorough management of all labour, plant, materials and subcontractors allowing planning, order placement and availability when required
Ensure the safe and efficient running of all contracts to budget with responsibility for the financial performance of contracts. Provision of excellent records allowing accurate forecasting, monthly/final accounting
Enhancing client relationship and public/business experience.
- Surfacing experience, Civil Engineering.
- High Speed Network Operations
- Supervision and motivation of all site personnel
- Principal Contractor Duties, CDM
- Appropriate ONC/HNC/HND qualification in Construction / Civil Engineering
- Desirable GCSE Maths / English or equivalent – A to C
- Suitable construction qualification and training course attendance
- Full clean driving licence
- Hold a high level of experience in highway construction and maintenance
- CSCS Professionally Qualified
- SMSTS / IOSH (Safety Related Qualification)
