We are looking for an experienced learning technologist to join our postgraduate clinical education team within the Edinburgh Medical School: Medical Education. You will work with, support and guide academic and administrative staff across two postgraduate clinical education programmes and one faculty development programme, aimed at improving the knowledge of clinical educators about teaching and learning and related issues. This is an opportunity to work with highly-experienced and knowledgeable educators: our team was nominated in 2019 and 2020 for an Advance HE Collaborative Award in Teaching Excellence. The successful applicant will have creativity, energy and expertise in how technology is used in effective course design and development, innovative teaching and integrated approaches to assessment and feedback. We are seeking a highly-skilled and motivated individual with experience of working with a wide range of learning technologies to support online programmes.

The Opportunity:

The post will also involve developing ad hoc materials, supporting a range of activities relating to the programmes (including marketing-related materials, social media, and academic webinars), and playing a key role, where appropriate, in designing and setting up local and integrated systems to support programme administration.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Previous experience of working in a related role within an educational setting
  • Proven capacity for designing and developing online learning materials and resources.
  • Commitment to learning new skills and keeping up-to-date on developments in pedagogy in relation to technology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate with people with a wide range of technical expertise
