GCU is committed to widening participation, and delivering positive outcomes for our students. We are Scotland’s leading provider of Graduate Apprenticeships. With campuses in Glasgow, London and New York, we have transnational partnerships around the world, supporting more than 22,000 students from 130 countries. Guided by our values – integrity, responsibility, creativity

The School of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment (SCEBE) is committed to the pursuit of excellence in teaching, research and knowledge transfer across the disciplines of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment. The School wishes to appoint a highly motivated Learning Technologist to contribute to the growth in digital learning and the use of learning technologies.

A significant part of this role will be to provide professional and practical support to academic staff in the application and use of our Virtual Learning Environment so a good working knowledge of Blackboard (or similar VLE) is essential. The successful candidate will also be expected to have experience of developing accessible digital learning and teaching resources and experience of developing and delivering training materials in the use of learning technologies.

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and committed individual who demonstrates excellent communication skills, strong organisational skills and an ability to effectively prioritise workload. The successful candidate will hold a degree and/or post graduate or professional qualification (or equivalent professional experience) in Learning Technology, Computing or related discipline and must be able to demonstrate an ability to use a range of ICT devices, applications, software and digital capture devices. Experience or knowledge of Further/Higher Education systems is desirable.

If you would like to discuss the role please contact Mr Iain Lambie, Assistant Head, Learning Teaching and Quality at [email protected] or Dr Mary Maclachlan, Associate Dean, Learning, Teaching and Quality at [email protected].

As the University for the Common Good, we are committed to embedding equality, diversity and inclusion, as well as our values in everything that we do. As such, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates who demonstrate the GCU Values.

Glasgow Caledonian University is committed to a fair and transparent recruitment process that is free from bias so that we can attract and retain a high performing workforce which makes a critical contribution to our success.

The University holds the prestigious Athena SWAN Silver institution award, which recognises our significant record of activity and achievement in promoting gender equality across different disciplines.

The School of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion, and is one of only two such Schools in Scotland to hold the prestigious Athena SWAN Silver Award for promoting gender equality and women’s careers in STEMM subjects (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine) and allied STEMM subjects (surveying, environment and management of all themes) in higher education.

As a Disability Confident 'Committed' employer, we are striving to ensure that our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible to disabled people. Although the Disability Confident 'Committed' level does not guarantee an interview for disabled applicants, we will make reasonable adjustments for disabled applicants during the recruitment process.

The University also holds the Carer Positive ‘Engaged’ employer award, which recognises our commitment to supporting staff with caring responsibilities.

Glasgow Caledonian University are committed signatories to the Armed Forces Covenant.

The University offers a range of benefits including opportunities for professional development, family friendly policies, cycle to work scheme and onsite childcare facilities.

Please note that the appointment will be made on the first point of the salary scale (unless by exception).
