We’re looking for an experienced Learning and Development Business Partner as we enter an exciting new phase in our leadership and management development. In this role you will lead, provide expertise, advice and deliver on our leadership and management development proposition. The successful role holder will manage a diverse and innovative range of leadership and management development interventions to support our leadership and management population from first line supervisors to senior leaders. The role requires in-depth and comprehensive expertise in learning needs analysis, learning design, delivery, and evaluation.

We require someone with strong design and facilitation skills and up-to-date knowledge in adult workplace learning. We’d expect you to draw on human behaviour, neuroscience and psychology. Digital learning management or digital learning design skills would be advantageous, as would accreditations in psychometrics/diagnostic tools and a coaching qualification.

You will have the confidence and credibility to engage with staff at all levels across the University and will be able to design and deliver learning solutions to meet the requirements of organisational and leadership and management development strategies.

Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

To consult, design, develop, manage and deliver a range of learning and development services, projects, programmes and interventions to support the development of organisational capability (culture, skills, behaviours, and performance) required to deliver the University’s strategy and future success. Working closely with relevant internal and external stakeholders and colleagues to ensure effective diagnosis, engagement, change management, benefits realisation, impact measurement and ongoing learning and improvement.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Consult, design, develop, deliver and evaluate learning and development interventions

Proactively contribute to the identification of development needs in response to strategic, local, sector and professional / technical drivers or legislation.

Programme manage, design, develop, deliver, review and evaluate a provision of learning interventions and programmes to support the professional, personal, technical/ functional, mandatory, career and talent management and development and leadership and management skills for relevant staff cohorts. Ensuring synergy, co-ordination and logical economies of scale and efficiencies with other programmes, services, sustainable resource development and learning and development provision.

Effective tracking and recording of provision and reporting and evaluation of impact in short, medium and longer term in line with development objectives and requirements of institutional accreditations etc. Ensuring feedback and learning informs future provision and supports an agile and responsive service. 

Encourage, establish and develop relevant internal and external collaborations as appropriate to support delivery of high quality, relevant, cost effective and sustainable provision. 

Input to the formulation and development of learning and development strategies, processes, policies and plans.

Learning and Development project management and consultancy

Undertake departmental / University wide consultancy and change projects in support of individual/ team/ cohort/ unit development. Working closely with HR colleagues and engaging fully with all relevant stakeholders, to plan, design, deliver and evaluate services, where appropriate utilising existing resources or aiming to develop sustainable resources for use with future other client groups. 

Direct, lead and project manage discrete L&D initiatives/ projects / infrastructure developments from initial conception through to successful delivery. Working closely with stakeholders, identifying and assessing appropriate measures of success, seeking opportunities for simplification and / or increased efficiency and ensuring fit within overall L&D and HR service provision. 

Design and development of sustainable L&D resources to support progression towards blended provision.

Learning and Development General

Specialist L&D skills and services (as required for specific role)
Provide input and specialist knowledge to support and deliver relevant unit, group and individual interventions and projects e.g. facilitation, coaching, psychometric feedback, learning sets, organisation design.

Collaborative working and team effectiveness

Contribute to the effective running, development and reputation of the Leadership and Management Development team. 

Providing high level of support to clients and colleagues, sharing knowledge and learning within the team, working flexibly, collaboratively, inclusively and respectfully. 

Working closely with wider HR team and People Group to build stronger links and logical integration and alignment of agendas.

Budget management

Effective planning, management, monitoring and reporting of spend against allocated budgets / funding streams, forecasting future requirements, identify future efficiencies, highlighting and responding to issues ensuring best value for money provision.

Involvement in annual financial planning mechanisms, costing of elements of provision and working with procurement procedures as appropriate. 

Contribution to bids and applications for external funds / grants
