Job description
As Walker Morris’ Learning and Development Advisor, you will also offer engaging learning solutions to support the development of our people – these could be in the form of face to face or virtual workshops, they could be through digital learning offerings, podcasts or ‘how to’ videos, they could be on a one to one coaching basis.
This opportunity is a very exciting, varied and stretching one for a Learning professional. If you are passionate about all things L&D such as delivering engaging soft and professional skills workshops to a variety of different people, or finding innovative ways to help embed a blended learning culture then this is right up your street.
In this role you will be responsible for delivering a memorable and welcoming day one induction experience to all our new starters, whether they’re lawyers or in our business services areas. We’re also keen to constantly improve on this first impression so we’re looking for someone who can bring their own fresh ideas and perspective as well.
The Learning and Development Advisor will get involved in designing, delivering or even facilitating workshops across the firm to enhance our colleagues’ professional and soft skills – here’s your chance to make a real difference to Walker Morris and our people.
If you’re a learning professional who’s keen to test and stretch their own ideas here’s chance to do just that with the opportunity to research and design your own training, with guidance and support from the L&D business partner.
We are a friendly team that encourages forward thinking – you will be supported, coached and trained to ensure you have all the skills you need. You’ll have lots of exposure to all aspects of L&D and be provided with a pathway for your own development.
This role will suit a confident, enthusiastic thinker, someone who embraces public speaking and has the ability to engage positively with stakeholders throughout the business. Oh, and being organised with excellent written communication is important too.
Maybe you’re a volume trainer at the moment coming from somewhere like a contact centre environment and you’re looking to push and stretch your capabilities. Maybe you are a trainer in a large population of other trainers and now’s the time to forge your own path and make a real difference in a leading law firm. Perhaps you’re a drama, debate or teaching graduate looking for a different direction for those crucial skills.
The key thing in this role is to be an ambassador for Learning and Development, and that must permeate everything you do.
What you will be doing as the Learning and Development Advisor:
- Training and Facilitation – Delivering face-to-face and virtual training, and (where relevant) facilitating workshops, covering both professional & soft skills (full training and support will be given)
- Coaching – Coaching and mentoring on a one to one basis with a variety of different people throughout the firm (full training and support will be given)
- Content creation – support with the production of new learning ideas and material
- Idea generation – work with the team to conceptualise new learning solutions
- Administration – manage the Learning Management System
What we are looking for:
- Confident and passionate about delivering engaging face to face learning and virtual workshops
- A background in Learning & Development is preferred but not essential
- We’re looking for good organisation skills, experience working to deadlines in a fast paced environment and a team player
- Excellent written skills are essential
- You will be confident to support all stakeholders from senior leadership to those just embarking on their careers
