A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the award winning Learning and Organisational development team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading as a Learning and Organisational Development Advisor.
You will be part of a dynamic team who deliver innovative training and support the delivery of our core training offering and bespoke training to our workforce of circa 6,000 employees.

- Responsibility for planning, implementing, and co-ordinating the delivery of employee development solutions and activities across the organisation. Conduct research to identify ‘return on Investment’ (ROI), of core and bespoke offerings, analyse the findings which formulates the training needs analysis for future services. Plan/organise and implement the training plan for the following year.
- Responsibility for supporting the delivery of a highly quality learning strategy and service by creation and delivery of strategic activities and learning interventions

- Design and facilitation of development interventions across the organisation to support Organisational Development including recommending, selecting and deploying appropriate psychometric instruments, providing staff with self and team awareness, in certain situations this can pose occasional exposure to distressing and emotional circumstances.
- Identification of training and development needs through conducting ‘Training Needs analysis’, job analysis, Trust priorities, appraisal scheme, staff survey, CQC findings, and regular consultation with directors, senior and line managers, consultants, Workforce professionals.
- Design, delivery and evaluation of high quality core skills learning and development programmes based on both organisational and individual needs on an on going basis
- Design, delivery and evaluation of high quality Leadership and management development programmes for both clinical and non-clinical staff, dealing with complex interventions that requires experienced facilitation skills. Deliver and co-ordinate the ‘Investment in Excellence’ an applied psychology programme with a view to improve resilience and culture. Training delivery will reach 4-5 days a week at peak times.
- Delivery of a professional and customer focused learning and development consulting service including researching theory based models, literature, journals, white papers, NHS plans to enforce current and future learning. Acting upon the research to design, develop, deliver and evaluate bespoke learning and development solutions including blended approaches.
- Regularly evaluate and review the suitability and effectiveness of all learning and organisational development provision, processes, policies and guidance notes, amending as appropriate to ensure a high quality, customer and patient focussed learning and development service is provided. Conduct research in to the ‘return on Investment’ (ROI), analyse the findings of all learning interventions which formulates the training needs analysis for future services
- To support workforce planning, and assist Employee Relations, Recruitment, Medical Recruitment, and Occupation Health in managing the framework for the development of the ‘Workforce plans’.
- Design, delivery and management of learning initiatives which align to the ‘Peoples Strategy’, including high level organisational development projects, i.e. plan and organise Trust wide ‘What matters’ engagement interventions, design and delivery of the ‘New Values In Action’ value based appraisal, analyse data in comparison to the annual staff survey, with an aim to improve quality care, engagement and retention. Design and deliver ‘RISE’ Recognise, Individuals, Success and Excellence the Talent Management programme. Planning and organising complex assessment centres, assessing candidates performance against a set criteria of leadership competencies, providing sensitive and complex feedback to successful/non-successful candidates providing a development pathway to ensure all interventions have a measurable and positive impact on the organisation
- Manage and delivery of the corporate introduction programme, providing an effective and interactive introduction to the Trust, including regular review and improvement of the process for both medical and non-medical staff
- Maintain knowledge of relevant current legislation, organisational procedures trends in practice, policies and professional codes of conduct in order to maintain high standards
- Role model, promote and enforce, organisational values ‘CARE’ Compassionate, Aspirational, Resourceful, Excellent within all learning interventions and the behavioural framework. Facilitate and lead discussions at individual and team level to embed the Trust’s Behavioural framework.
- To demonstrate effective partnership working both within and outside the organisation eg local organisations across the network
- To deliver Learning and Organisational Development opportunities, ensuring we have taken into account learning styles, Equality and Diversity and inclusion taking advantage of the latest technology, to enhance and meet learner’s experience.
- To support the design, development and implementation of the Trust’s talent, performance, leadership and engagement strategies (eg What Matters)
- Provide effective 1-1 coaching interventions to clinical/non clinical staff and managers including psychometric feedback if required.
- Forge working partnerships with senior managers, consultants, HR professionals, Practice development and Educators to translate learning and education priorities into an OD and learning strategy which aligns to Trust strategic objectives.
- Organise, plan and conduct bespoke team interventions requested by managers on the L& OD triage system, prioritising interventions aligned to the staff survey,’ People Strategy’. Scoping the overall aim and objective to deliver the required L&OD function. Analysis and produce reports on the L&D/OD activity. Report outcomes to the learning and Talent Manager – including calculating ROI
- Work closely with our Digital Specialist to facilitate and adapt our learning programmes on the LMS.
- Conduct evaluation of learning programmes post-delivery to ensure a consistently high quality and accuracy.
- Keep all training materials up to date and relevant in line with OD processes.
- Exercise a good understanding of local procedures and policies, Our strategy and Vision to apply so to incorporate into design work and delivery and advise on where needed.
- Management and delivery of all corporate induction programmes (Core and Consultants), providing an effective and interactive induction to the Trust, including regular review and improvement of the process for both medical and non-medical staff.
- Coaching and Mentor of Managers and staff
- Maintain, update and monitor our intranet pages in conjunction with the Learning and OD administration team.
- Proactively develop your own skill and knowledge via learning opportunities available to you for your own CPD.
- Liaise and work closely with all members of the Learning and OD team to ensure a consistent and accurate delivery of learning to all.
