The role of a Learner Success Coach (LSC)

As the key contact for your learners, you’re one of the two key supports for learners on programme. You’ll ensure that your learners' progress tracks to plan and that you support them to develop the behaviours associated with their programme of learning. You work in partnership to ensure the timely achievement of learners -the success of a Learner Success Coach is determined by the timely achievement of 85% of your caseload.

Responsibilities by area of focus

  • Motivate and encourage learning and development in your learners
  • Drive progression and ensure OTJ and learning plan progress is delivered to plan
  • Ensure that learners requiring Functional Skills are supported to complete by month 6 on programme
  • Engage with the employer and learners at a minimum every 10 weeks, reviewing objectives set and defining the plan via Progress Reviews
  • Recording and reporting on activity on the E-portfolio systems
  • Embed Maths and English Functional skills into the coaching sessions
  • Deliver and embed topics relating to Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Prevent, Equal Opportunities and other related Acts. Ensuring a regional approach and contextualisation
  • Work closely with the Data Mentor to ensure that they are alerted to any challenges which might prevent timely achievement
  • Support the composition of monthly employer MI, adding valuable commentary regarding risk learners
  • Create, maintain and communicate SMART action plans for learners who require intervention to ensure timely achievement
  • Ensure and learners with SEND requirements are captured, training plans adapted and that all relevant stakeholders are made aware of any adjustments required
  • Coach apprentices in business skills and setting goals and objectives to enhance their professional skills
  • To facilitate & encourage learners to own their experience via self-directed learning and personal development
  • Challenge and develop the learner’s skills and abilities to enable them to achieve the best performance results
  • Be quick to problem solve and produce solutions to any learning or development barriers to apprentices.
  • Ensure best practices and be aware of Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities and related Acts.

Candidate Specification:

Essential

  • Experience within Apprenticeships for a minimum of 1 year is essential
  • Data informed decision making
  • Able to use learner progress data to inform determination of risk
  • Solutions focussed and self-sufficiency when solving first level support issues
  • Proficient in the use of technical collaboration & communication tools such as Excel, Dashboard reporting tools & learner management systems

Desirable

  • Professional Coaching qualification
  • Experience in learner/employee development
  • Relevant qualifications in Data Analytics
