Job description
Due to continued growth and expansion, Acorn Training is looking for a learner recruitment officer/engagement officer based from our site in Burton-on-Trent.
This role is designed to be part time 15 -20 hours per week. Expenses are paid in addition to your basic salary for any mileage and parking above your normal commuting distance.
Full Time Equivalent Salary (37.5 hours) = £24,000 to £27,000
Promoting adult learning courses with a wide range of stakeholders, such as libraries, jobcentres, community organisations and the NHS.
This role will be using intelligence gained from working with learners and stakeholders to advise on what new courses should be made available, working with heads of department to broker and develop new training courses with community organisations and look for new stakeholder referral partners & employers to work with.
Working with job and employment coaches to arrange courses that meet the needs of their caseloads of unemployed individuals.
Working with employers to put on courses that will help them to recruit new staff by training up unemployed people forming part of the Government/DWP Sector Based Work Programme Initiative.

The role is a mixed role between Acorn's Office Sites East Staffordshire, South Derbyshire & Leicestershire consisting of attending Community Venues & partner organisation sites such as the DWP with a working diary that spans across (but is not limited to); South Derbyshire, East Staffordshire, & Leicestershire predominantly & some other commitments outside of these areas on an ad-hoc basis.
The job role requires the successful applicant to have/be:
- High levels of communication at all levels & highly personable,
- Good IT Experience including the use of MS Teams/Zoom as well as Microsoft Office Packages,
- The ability to be motivated to hit Learner Recruitment Targets & Stakeholder Referral Targets,
- Self organised & be able to manage a diary highly effectively,
- Self Motivated & able to work on their own initiative as well as working in a team
- Previous experience working within a similar role recruiting new learners,
- Previous experience working with & recruiting stakeholders & employers,
- The ability to drive with access to a car as the role will require travelling to different stakeholder sites (Expenses will be paid for mileage & parking),
- The role requires an enhanced DBS check.
