The Test and Quality Assurance Team (QA) within DDTS are recruiting 5 Lead Test Managers. This is an exciting opportunity to support the development life cycle in both waterfall and agile delivery. You will be responsible for several programmes and projects overseeing both test management and software testing quality assurance phases delivered by Senior Test Managers, Lead Test Engineers and their teams to achieve that outcome.

You will be driven to making the government better, challenging the status quo. Ensuring we deliver projects to time, quality and budget. We are a maturing IT organisation with a need to provide a responsive and proactive testing service across Defra and other Government departments.

You are confident in informing and influencing stakeholders around the testing decisions that need to be taken. Finally, you will be passionate about your work and have experience of managing testing on both small and large projects and programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise on testing and contribute to the team community. Coach and mentor team members, promoting knowledge sharing and adoption of good practice
  • Provide expert leadership on testing and influence the delivery environment
  • Demonstrate risk management techniques within a large project (capture, escalate and mitigate)
  • Lead and influence the implementation of the testing capability for Defra, and ensure the correct technologies are in place to support delivery
  • Oversee multiple deliveries and apply technical knowledge to ensure quality test frameworks are in place
  • Develop test assurance frameworks and lead test assurance activities with suppliers
  • Contribute to Defra procurement and commercial contracts

Skills and Experience

  • Work collaboratively with senior delivery partners to successfully delivery software and services
  • Influence senior leads across the digital, data and technology profession to champion and embed quality through test
  • Lead on communications between projects to control integration and dependencies and oversee the test resource, capability and growth of the wider test team
  • Have proven experience of balancing multiple priorities
  • Has detailed knowledge and is an expert in utilising a range of technologies and platforms to better enable and enhance the delivery of Quality Assurance and Test services

Qualifications

  • Advanced or Expert Certification from the International Software Testing Board (ISTQB) or equivalent experience. If successful, you will have a willingness to work towards this as we are able to fund this qualification.

Salary: £49,403.00-£61,392.00 per year
