Allstate operate a very flexible hybrid working policy that will allow you to design your working week in collaboration with your manager with a blend of remote and office working for NI based employees as well as condensed working patterns (4 day week/9 day fortnight). Employees based in GB will be employed on a permanent remote working contract.

Your role in the team
The RaaS (Rating as a Service) area are at the forefront of providing rating solutions to our technical partners within Allstate.
We offer solutions that align to Allstate’s TSA (Target State Architecture) and exciting Business Strategy, whilst also ensuring that we support the classic systems that are a part of the existing fabric and structure of the company’s success.
We are delighted to be offering this exciting opportunity to join the Analytical Rating team, building software solutions that support Rating as a Service, specifically IRP (Integrated Rating Platform). These solutions enable our clients & consumers to configure custom reports for their rate plan model executions.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test complex, high volume & scalable applications focused on big data analytics
- Collaborate with business partners and Product owners to review backlog, ensuring they are clear, concise, and technically feasible
- Collaborate with technical leads and platform teams to review platform architecture, requirements, and milestones, ensuring they are clear, concise, and technically feasible
- Translate product requirements into innovative solutions that provide an excellent client experience and align with architectural roadmap
- Prepare detailed technical designs that account for security, resiliency, scalability, maintainability, and performance
- Code, test, debug, implement, and support complex insurance products
- Strive for continuous improvements of our processes, application, designs, and application execution
- Collaborate with onshore/Offshore Contract resources, ensuring adherence to our processes and standards
So, what are the essential criteria to apply?
- All candidates must evidence an existing right to work in the UK
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Software Engineer
- Experience in Java, JavaScript, NoSQL (Mongo), SQL, DevOps, Spring
- Experience designing high volume, scalable applications.
- Experience with GitHub for source control
- Experience working within an agile development environment.
We also have some desirable criteria
- Cloud experience, Kubernetes, React.js
- You have a proven ability to work on and lead high priority initiatives.
- You have excellent listening and communication skills.
- Good research and analytical skills
- Good problem-solving skills with a focus on code quality
- Be a team player, highly enthusiastic and self-motivated
