Lead Software Engineer

Lloyds Banking Group, Consumer Services & Engagement Platform
Location: London based with flexibility to work from home 3 days per week and 2 days in the London office.
Salary & Benefits: £95,000 to £105,000 base salary, plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution (when you put in 6%), 4% flexible cash pot, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

About The Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Engagement Lab for a Lead Software Engineer within the Consumer Services & Engagement Platform.
Aim to deliver the highest quality customer driven software whilst continually challenging, motivating, mentoring and supporting their engineering teams.
They will work in cross-disciplinary teams delivering exciting customer driven solutions and high-quality software and showcase excellent interpersonal and communication skill whilst efficiently working across the project life cycle to ensure software operates as intended. They will be an advocate for Engineering best practices, providing a voice to Engineers within the teams, identifying and supporting their teams in resolution of impediments and issues as well as continually developing themselves with industry best practice and tooling used across their engineering team.
This is a leadership level role and will blend both deep domain and technical expertise within a feature team and great passion for coaching and developing people in a “player-coach” model.

  • Sound experience in using and adopting a wide range of engineering practices and tools across the full software development lifecycle.

What You’ll Do:
  • Build efficient, reusable, scalable and secure systems and abstractions.
  • Identify software systems improvements and implement best in class methodologies to produce quality software.
  • Collaborate with the product & design team to iterate the design function and implement the products.
  • Create a culture of learning and continuous improvement through a “Fail Fast, Learn Faster” mentality within teams to experiment and test new ways of engineering, to act as a change agent for engineering and team culture, and to cultivate a systems-thinking and user-experience led design approach.
What We Need From You:
  • Extensive experience of building software systems using modern Agile practices, DevOps pipelines, test automation, GitHub source code management and E2E software development lifecycle.
  • Able to contribute to defining objectives to continuously improve and measure metrics.
  • Able to listen, reflect and respect the views of others as well as being able to communicate your own.
