Team Leader: Inpatients and Nurse Led Consulting

About This Role
We are growing our hospital sites and have an exciting new opportunity for an Inpatients and Nurse Led Consulting Team Leader. Reporting to the Practice Manager, you will coordinate with the Theatres and Procedures Team Leader to develop our provision of nursing services. Our hospital practices are open 24/7; they are fast-paced and exciting, receiving internal and external referrals daily, meaning the caseload is varied and interesting.
As a member of our management team, it’s paramount that you have a passion for developing others. You will hold regular 1-to-1s with your team along with performance development reviews, and keep them constantly updated with team and company news as communicated by the Senior Leadership Team. You won’t be afraid to tackle issues head-on, but you will also celebrate success and recognise achievements.
You'll be working to deliver exceptional inpatient ward services and develop our nurse led consulting streams, with a philosophy of innovation and evidence-based continuous improvement.
About You
We're looking for a confident and experienced veterinary nurse who is keen to start leading a team or who already has previous leadership experience; a nurse with a social heart, who has excellent people skills, strong technical ability, and experience of working in a fast-paced environment.
Expected responsibilities will include:
- Facilitate the efficient and effective management of a varied caseload within the wards, including medical and surgical patients
- Ensuring effective communication with clients throughout the day
- Act as a point of call for Reception patient triage queries
- Liaise with other Animal Trust departments to ensure smooth flow of transfers
- Practise and monitor H&S compliance within the wards and consultation rooms
- Ordering of pharmaceuticals and consumables in accordance with practice budget
- Ensure effective discharge of patients by the inpatient team
- Optimise nurse rota to play to individual’s strengths and potential
- Report any equipment failure efficiently to minimise inpatient ward disruption
- Keep accurate Smart Flow records in accordance with Practice Standards regulations
- Lead and participate in daily huddles and team briefings
- Hold quarterly 1-to-1s, performance development reviews and be an advocate for Animal Trust ethos
- Work closely with team leaders to develop inpatient and consulting services
- Review processes and protocols with a view to progressing and improving services

Salary: £28,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
