Job Introduction

Combining the strengths of the UK’s most-awarded production company and a world-class distributor, BBC Studios works with the best British writers, directors and programme-makers and crafts over 2500 hours of content every year. We’re a one-stop-shop that touches every aspect of the value chain from production to exploitation - whether that’s financing or developing a show, producing it or selling it globally. And we make sure it gets to you no matter how you access it: through linear channels or digital platforms, consumer products, live events and much more. We’re now looking for a Lead Infrastructure Architect to work across our enterprise estate and help deliver transformational technology programmes for BBC Studios.

This is a unique role: based in BBC Studios, but with a joint reporting line to the infrastructure architects in the wider BBC Group. You’ll help design infrastructure that’s specific for BBC Studios and help implement Group systems and architecture, and you’ll make sure that at all times BBC Studios is connected to and aligned with group-wide thinking and design patterns.

You’ll have excellent infrastructure skills and experience - particularly strong expertise across cloud technologies, but also be at home with our hybrid estate including on-premises, working across Mac and PC, in-person and remote working. And you’ll be able to demonstrate solid experience of designing and implementing modern architectures in businesses of our scale and complexity.

Are you the right candidate?
  • First-class understanding of cloud technologies
  • Strong experience in hosting and storage, network architecture, and security and zero trust principles
  • Experience of driving technology transformation in a fast-moving, growth-orientated environment
  • Plugged into the wider industry with a great understanding of market trends and developments
  • Strong hands-on technical approach, knowledge, and ability
  • A great communicator: able to work with business and senior stakeholders to understand needs and communicate technology options and opportunities.
  • Ability and understanding to collaborate well with architects in the rest of the Group
  • Able to land Group-wide systems and architecture in the context of BBC Studios
  • Be able to lead a team
