Job description
As an Animation Programmer working on CA’s exciting new Shooter, you will be uniquely situated to make substantial contributions to the game’s animation systems and features, both visually and technically.
Flexible working at Creative Assembly includes hybrid, fully remote within country of employment for eligible roles, and in-studio. We recognise that there is no one-size-fits-all approach and empower our teams to define the working patterns which work best for them, which may mean different things for different teams and roles and at different times.
This role can be fully remote, hybrid or full-time in the studio. The expectation for hybrid working is an average of one day per week in our Horsham studio. Further details can be discussed during the recruitment process.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the technical aspects of shaping the animation systems throughout all the areas of the game. You will work closely with animators, technical animators, designers, programmers of other disciplines and more, to inform and support the implementation of animation features.
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Support the animators in integrating their artwork in to the game and achieving their quality standards
- Support the technical animators in engine related issues
- Brainstorm and prototype new ideas and solutions
- Aid other teams in using the animation systems you have put in place, to maintain a standard of performance and quality
- Be a point of contact for other teams, providing support to emerging gameplay features and systems
- Plan and prioritise upcoming work and backlog for you and your team.
Essential
- Fluent in C++
- Experience with animation systems
- Experience with UE4 game development
- Being able to work well with other disciplines
- Attention to detail and a passion for making quality products
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Experience with developing animation systems in UE4 using a combination of blueprints and C++
- Experience working on/playing FPS games
- Experience integrating with services
- Experience with profiling tools, either Unreal’s built-in or third-party
- Experience with network replication in UE4
- Good understanding of character animation.
