Job description
Ipswich Town Football Club is looking for a Lead Academy Sport Scientist for a permanent full-time role to join the Academy Medical team.
PURPOSE
The Lead Academy Sport Scientist will be responsible for managing and delivering the Sports Science and Performance Support Programme for all
Academy Players registered with the Club.
To ensure a multi disciplinary approach across all departments of the
Academy.
To monitor and manage the input of data onto Kitman Labs and input data as required.
To ensure SMART targets are set for all departments, staff, and players and that these are regularly reviewed and revised.
To lead the Academy performance Team by supporting players and staff across all age phases.
SPECIFICATION
- Liaise with Academy Manager on all issues within the Academy Sports Science Department.
- Line manage Sports Science staff outside the Academy Management Team.
- Assist the Academy Manager and Operations Manager with the development and implementation of the Academy Performance Plan (APP)
- To attend Academy Management Team Meetings and Technical Board Meetings as required.
- Design, implement & manage the Academy’s Sports Science Programme
- Lead on and support all Sports Science elements across the Academy.
- Design and implement procedures and protocols for the measurement of the physical and psychological fitness of Academy players appropriate to all of the development phases.
- Conduct annual reviews of the Sports Science and fitness protocols.
- Deliver and support all fitness testing programmes.
- Oversee and approve individual fitness & conditioning plans.
- Devise and deliver in-house CPD programme in conjunction with the Sports Science and coaching staff.
- Attend in-house in-service training sessions.
- Contribute to fitness assessment reporting and judgements on player fitness across all phases in conjunction with the Academy medical team.
- Undertake equity, diversity & safeguarding awareness training.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary player reviews.
- Travel with U21 Squad to all fixtures
- Conduct annual reviews of the Academy sport science process and fitness protocols.
- Support U13-U16 Athletic Development as and when required

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR POST
- Organisational & effective managerial skills.
- Excellent reporting skills (verbal & written).
- Working knowledge of EPPP & Youth Rule requirements.
- At least two years experience working in a professional Club.
- Current EFAiF qualification.
- Current enhanced DBS check
Desirable
- A Masters Degree in Sports Science from a recognised university.
- BASES accreditation.
- UKSCA accreditation or ability to achieve within 6 months.
