The role holder will assist and at times may lead for BT legal on the most complex matters providing quality and timely legal support and/or advice across Consumer’s devices, products, partnerships and/or media including complex bids, in-life, partnering, strategy, disputes, procurement. Together with a particularly heavy focus on legal transactional and commercial advisory work to senior members across Consumer including, Marketing, TV, IT and Digital.
What you’ll be doing
- You will ensure compliance with legislation and regulations: ensuring agreements which BT/EE enters into do not breach relevant legislation. Preparing reports and interacting with to senior stakeholders to convey key issues succinctly and concisely.
- You will provide legal training to the business as required. Keeping abreast of current and future best practice.
- You will be expected to help Consumer maintain and increase revenue and protect the value of the BT brands. You will liaise with stakeholders across consumer regarding legal requirements.
- You will develop and maintain individual relationships with internal Consumer and Corporate Legal teams, Regulatory Affairs, Corporate Affairs and Group Brand
- You will collaborate with the rest of the rest of the partnerships legal team and more widely across Consumer and Group Legal.
The skills you’ll need
- Knowledge of technology, the telecoms industry and convergence
- Understanding of Consumer’s business objectives, processes and systems, and the legal and regulatory framework in which BT operates.
- Comfortable influencing/delivering strategically important projects for BT
- Ability to question intelligently, challenge rigorously and recommend – with sound business judgment- a course of action to a stakeholder;
- Excellent drafting, communication, stakeholder management, organisation, influencing and persuading skills;
- Strong team player;
- Ability to work under time pressure to demanding timescales; and
- Self-motivated, proactive, optimistic, energetic, resilient, effective at prioritising and able to deal with multiple matters at the same time.
