What you’ll be doing
As a Wills & Admin tutor you might need to teach on the SQE, the Legal Apprenticeship Scheme, and LPC programmes. You may also be required to update the modules so that they reflect the current law, draft and mark assessments and provide feedback to students.
You will typically teach the following topics: Will drafting & interpretation, intestacy, claims under the IPFDA 1975, inheritance tax during lifetime and on death, tax planning, estate administration & distribution, lasting powers of attorney and trust taxation. You may also need to teach cross border issues, for example, domicile and residence.
The curriculum has been designed to prepared students for the SQE assessment and, in the case of the LPC, it’s been designed with the aim of preparing them for what they would see in practice as a trainee solicitor in a probate department.
What’s in it for you?
A teaching career that is one of the most varied in the legal education sector. Alongside teaching, you’ll be involved in marking assessments and providing pastoral support. You may have the opportunity to develop content and curriculum.
You could also have the opportunity to contribute to internal and external marketing, business development, outreach and employability activities.
