Your key contribution:
The Law Clerk is an integral member of BLG Beyond Leasing, providing substantive legal support to the leasing Lawyers and Legal Support Staff and contributing to the team’s exceptional client service.
The Law Clerk possesses a mind-set of continuous improvement and is a self-starter in a digital first environment.
Your key objectives
  • Working with commercial property landlords and managers
  • Conducting real estate due diligence, anticipating issues and recommending resolutions
  • Obtaining and reviewing title insurance policies and endorsements
  • Drafting of leasing agreements and amendments to existing leasing agreements, including renewals, assignments, surrenders and collateral lease documentation
  • Managing complex leasing agreements and identifying discrepancies where applicable
  • Liaising with clients, counsel, financial institutions, title insurance companies, land registry offices, opposite and third parties
  • Assisting in transactions relating to zoning matters and land development
  • Attending closing of transactions and electronic registration of title documents
  • Adhering to time recording best practices including recording their time daily and contributing to annual revenue goals
  • Managing daily workflow, keeping matters on track, meeting official deadlines and expected turnaround times
  • Acting as a team player within BLG Beyond Leasing assisting with overflow, urgent deadlines and back-up coverage
  • Working cooperatively with Legal Support Services and other members of the client service team
  • Assisting with other related projects as assigned
What you bring to our Team
Along with your enthusiasm, positivity and passion for excellence, you bring the following key experiences and skills to our team:
  • A certificate, degree or diploma as a Law Clerk or Paralegal or equivalent
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience, including experience in a property management (leasing) environment
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with Windows-based computer systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe/Kofax
  • Experience with DocuSign/One Span, Closing Folders, Teraview and Conveyancer
  • Highly adaptable, agile-minded and energetic
  • Well organized and task-driven
  • Proactive and regularly takes initiative
  • A role model in discretion and sound judgement
  • Recognizes the value and possesses the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal transactions
  • Strong emotional intelligence with strong team player and interpersonal skills
