Fall Law Intern
Temporary position (approximately 4 months)
Legal Services, Corporate Finance
Job Summary
The Law Intern will work under the guidance of the Manager of Legal Services on various projects assigned by the legal counsel team or other groups within Corporate Finance. The work can include assisting with implementing legislative initiatives, developing or amending national or local rules and policies, reviewing applications for exemptions from corporate-finance related requirements and assisting corporate finance compliance staff on securities law compliance matters.
Specifically, the intern has the opportunity to:
- Draft memos, briefing notes and other documents
- Conduct legal research and analyze legislation, policy and case law
- Conduct research on current events that impact the securities industry
- Gather and analyze market data
- Review and summarize comment letters the commission receives about rule proposals
The ideal candidate is a 2nd or 3rd year law student (or a recent graduate). Please note this is not an articling position.
Depending on the candidate, this could be a temporary full-time position (35 hours per week) or a temporary part-time position (15 - 20 hours per week). The term of the position is September 5 – December 29, 2023.
The salary for this position is $24.70/hour + $45.00 bi-weekly in lieu of benefits + 6% vacation pay. Offers will be subject to reference, credit, police, and regulatory checks.
