The Opportunity
The post will work within the Large Animal Services team based in LARIF. As an integral part of the team you will be responsible for a variety of administrative duties for the Head of Large Animal Services and the Academic Lead for Centre of Innovation Excellence in Livestock (CIEL activities.
This is an exciting role for someone with a can-do attitude and an ability to work well under pressure. This role will require you to have an exceptionally high level of organisational skills and previous experience of complex diary management for exceptionally busy professionals. You must have a high level of communication skills, be confident in both following instructions and showing your own initiative. Experience with taking minutes for meetings as well as organising events/meetings is required, alongside a basic understanding of data protection issues. The job-holder is required to use discretion and be of calm nature. The job-holder must be confidential at all times and know what information is appropriate to pass on and when. The jobholder is required to have a basic understanding of the health and safety and security constraints required in a lab/office environment.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- To be able to provide On-Line diary management. Act as the first point of contact and prioritise activities. All of which requires good organisational skills and communication.
- Reception Skills – be first point of contact for in person visitors. Ensure visitors have discussed/arranged visits prior to arrival, sign in and wear appropriate. Answering the phones and dealing with mail and deliveries. Be polite and courteous at all times.
- Secretarial Skills – organise meetings, circulate paperwork, minute taking
- Finance and Procurement knowledge – the post involves working with the University Systems to place orders, process invoices track payments.
- The ability to use discretion and be of a calm nature whilst working in a busy environment.
