The Landscape Services Team manage the award-winning university grounds, across multiple locations within the city and surrounding campuses. We maintain and develop some amazing green spaces and directly contribute towards the student and staff experience by providing a diverse range of outdoor spaces. A virtual tour will give you a glimpse into life on our Highfield Campus .
We encourage a variety of wildlife on site and have been awarded hedgehog friendly status for our campuses. We promote organic practices wherever possible contributing towards a more sustainable future.
The Role
A valued supervisory role within our small friendly landscaping team who aim to provide a high-quality service in respect of the management and maintenance of all University grounds and landscaped areas.
This hands-on role will involve carrying out soil cultivation, manuring, site preparation; planting and surgery to trees, shrubs, plants, turfing, grass seed sowing, grass cutting and new planting schemes. Operating and adjustment of modern machinery including tractors, ride-on mowers, hand mowers and other horticultural equipment to ensure optimum performance. You will work in a variety of green spaces including structured and seasonal planting, woodland, the valley gardens, and waterside gardens.
About You
We are seeking an experienced gardener at supervisory level who has a passion for horticulture and is a strong team player with a can-do attitude. Ideally you will have practical knowledge and skills in the use of horticultural maintenance machinery. You will thrive working outside in all weathers and always adopt safe working practices.
