We’re looking for a creative and experienced Landscape Architect to join us at SLR / OPEN (Optimised Environments) in our Bristol studio / office.
At SLR / OPEN we believe strongly in the influence of landscape architecture to shape and lead our interaction with the natural and built environment in a way that is responsible and innovative. This includes playing a part in helping to tackle the climate change emergency and set the agenda for a more sustainable way of living, working alongside other talented people with a wide range of expertise.
The Role
As a Landscape Architect it will offer you the chance to get involved in a wide range of projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team, helping to shape our built and natural environment and address design challenges. SLR / OPEN work on some of the most significant and prestigious development and regeneration projects in the UK with a range of public and private sector clients. This involves everything from developing a concept through to detailed design and implementation.
Playing a key role in managing projects and Client relationships, with a focus on the Built Environment sector and actively working alongside other technical disciplines, you will work within an accomplished and well-structured team alongside some of the UK’s leading landscape experts, with a commitment to quality and maintaining the highest professional standards. Managing and delivering a varied project workload, whilst providing leadership and guidance to junior staff within the wider team, actively taking part in business development, preparing fee tenders and securing new commissions alongside senior members of the team.
We are seeking creative thinkers with strong graphic, presentation and written skills with a passion for the built and natural environment. We are looking for an individual who can work as part of the Bristol team and as an integral part of the wider UK team, with work winning ability and client lead skills.

About you
Alongside a Landscape Architecture Degree, Postgraduate diploma and holding Chartered status, you will have Landscape Planning experience within a consultancy, studio or similar commercial environment, along with:
- Experience in LVIA and Landscape Masterplanning is essential;
- Understanding of landscape planning methodologies and experience at drafting related reports (skills in both technical report writing and in the preparation of graphic material are required);
- Ability to think strategically, conceptually and analytically while maintaining a focus on wide-ranging or long-term implications;
- Effective and confident communication skills (both written and oral) to a broad audience and able to work collaboratively;
- Good organisational skills.
