Job description
Each year the 1000 acre historic Clandon Park Estate funds supervised hands on Placements for Veterinary Medicine students currently at any Veterinary College in the U.K./university. Students are guaranteed a place for 1, 2 or 3 weeks. If you do not live locally and you require accommodation you may apply to bring a caravan or we will put you in touch with fellow students who may be able to advise about student accommodation in the locality.
10+ Lambing placements every week under experienced Shepherds. This is far more than just a placement. You will be permitted to be hands on for lambing and treating our rare breed sheep. You will be encouraged to study natural sheep behaviour prior to, during and after lambing and to handle any veterinary intervention required by yourself (under supervision by shepherd or vet where required ) Very much a learning experience or taking on significant responsibility under supervision as opposed to you being free labour !!!
10+ Equine placements under experienced Head Groom or Livery Yard Manager.
