Position Overview:

As a summer seasonal laborer, your duties will include:

• Watering, planting, deadheading, and weeding
• Assisting with tree removals and maintenance
• General care for our flowers and plants
• Trail maintenance and litter picking
• Delivery of special events equipment
• Other maintenance functions necessary to keep our public spaces and parks in the best possible condition for our residents’ and visitors’ enjoyment

Contracts will commence in mid-June and run until the end of September with possibility of extension (weather depending), or full-time permanent employment for the right candidate. Municipal Parks operates seven days a week on a compressed schedule. Working four 10-hour shifts (6am-4pm) a week will leave you 3 days off each week to enjoy all that summer in Banff has to offer.

Qualifications and Attributes:

• Experience driving vehicles up to a one-ton classification
• Work experience in grounds and/or landscaping is an asset
• Knowledge of workplace safety programs.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting, carrying, and long periods of walking, standing, and working in all weather conditions.
• Valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license
• A current and clean driver’s abstract (required on employment start date)
• An air brake certification is a definite asset

The rate of pay is between $19.00/hour and $21.00/hour depending on your experience. When you complete the term of your contract, in its entirety, you will be awarded a $1.00 per hour bonus (to be paid on your final pay cheque) for each regular hour worked.
