Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe work environment.
- Perform general construction duties such as digging, lifting, carrying, and moving materials.
- Assist skilled tradespeople, such as carpenters or bricklayers, with their tasks.
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Prepare construction sites by cleaning debris, removing obstacles, and setting up temporary structures.
- Load and unload materials, equipment, and supplies from delivery vehicles.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and work collaboratively with the team to complete tasks efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment, reporting any defects or malfunctions to the appropriate person.
- Communicate effectively with team members, contractors, and supervisors regarding work progress and any issues that may arise.
- Adhere to project timelines and deadlines, ensuring work is completed on schedule.
- Assist with the setup and dismantling of scaffolding, as required.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.
Requirements:
- Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
- Previous experience in a similar general labourer role is preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of basic hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when required.
- Own personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety boots, high-visibility vest, and hard hat.
- Flexibility to work overtime or on weekends, as needed.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations in a construction environment.
