As our new Laboratory Technician, you will perform general laboratory husbandry, maintenance of marine algae stocks, carrying out procedures under aseptic techniques and adherence to standard operating procedures at all times in a GLP compliant laboratory facility.

This is a full-time entry-level role with no formal educational requirements, but it would be an advantage if you have a scientific understanding. We have a well-established team and will offer you full training.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Carry out laboratory work and general tasks as directed by the senior Environmental Unit Staff
  • Assist with nominated studies as directed by Study Directors and to ensure all laboratory duties are undertaken in compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations
  • Ensure laboratory facilities are maintained to GLP requirements at all times
  • Participate with the maintenance and repairs of laboratory equipment, systems and infrastructure
  • Ensure calibration of equipment is undertaken and maintained in a timely manner
  • Maintain stock levels of equipment, materials and consumables
  • Become involved with the improvement of technical practices and method development
  • Assist with field work and in other areas as required
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in the work area and department

You should be good at multi-tasking and have a strong customer focus and collaborate with peers to solve problems.
