The Laboratory Technician plays a key role in the expansion of Bicycle Therapeutics and will enable the laboratories to function effectively. We are looking for a great team player who has excellent organisational skills and someone who can prioritise, communicate, and flex to the task in hand. This role will involve both practical scientific work and administrative work to support the company and the team activities.

Providing practical lab support for the Biology and Chemistry teams, acting independently to complete essential support function.
- The use and maintenance of electronic lab management and ticket systems in liaising directly with scientists to discuss their support requirements.
- Checking and replenishing reagent, consumables and chemical stock levels, and associated paperwork.
- Compressed gases management including Liquid Nitrogen
- Preparing basic solutions e.g., buffers, media, and Plates

Maintaining Quality Control systems, including Tissue culture rooms (Mycoplasma testing)
- Provide Technician support when required for sample preparation, which includes:
- The use and maintenance of electronic lab management systems in
- liaising directly with scientists to discuss their support requirements,
- creating electronic schedules for protein batches using MS Excel and LIMS system
- accurate preparation of protein batches, both solid and in solution, using automated and non-automated methods,

sample inventory management, keeping accurate records using LIMS system and paper-based records.
- Liaising with the Logistics Coordinator in preparing samples in/out in accordance with standard operating procedure by
- preparing samples for delivery to various contract Research organisations

maintaining sample inventory for both shipments to and from external resources.
- Overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of laboratory equipment
- Support the Lab Manager to ensure service schedules/records are maintained and adhered to.
- Ensure that laboratory equipment is well maintained, including maintaining the health of the communal freezer storage systems.

Calibrate equipment such as pH meters.
- Ensuring that the laboratories meet Health and Safety requirements and compliance.
- By keeping all workspaces clean and tidy
- Writing basic Standard Operating Procedures
- Maintaining lab records to a high standard
- Ensuring all data is captured and archived according to data integrity requirements.
- Updating and maintaining Bicycle’s Chemical Inventory with relevant data (MSDS) and storage locations.

- When required ensuring the tasks of the wider team are covered, for example during holiday absences. This will be primarily the tasks of the lab assistant, to include use of glass washing machines, autoclaves, and waste management.
Essential:
- A scientific degree or equivalent industry experience.
- Previous laboratory experience; to include pipetting and sterile techniques.
- Strong understanding of chemical awareness and their associated hazards.
- Competence with the MS Office suite of programmes and ideally a lab-based management system.
Desirable:
- Experience of using a LIMS
- Proven experience and knowledge of automated compound management and lab-based systems
