As a Labcorp Apprentice you will be working to contribute to the success of the business to develop drug solutions to improve health and lives across the globe. In 2022 88% of drugs approved by the FDA were supported by work performed by Labcorp. In addition to the lab skills and qualification you will receive, we support your professional development and career exploration through program workshops, leadership speakers, employee resource group introductions, new hire panel discussions and small group ‘coffee chats’.
Department Information
This is a great opportunity to work in the Necropsy Department within the Post Life Services Division for those with an interest in anatomy and wanting a hands-on role whilst offering a supportive environment, mixing both college studies and laboratory-based work alongside a team Scientists. Whilst training you will learn a broad range of laboratory skills and techniques in a GLP environment.
A level of manual dexterity and attention to detail is needed to complete intricate dissections of organs and tissues from multiple animal species including organ weights, visual descriptions of organs and tissues recorded onto computer systems to create data points for further analysis. Tissues are then processed within the Histology Department to create a stained tissue slide for pathological analysis performed by a pathologist.
This is a fast-paced laboratory setting providing on the job training with an emphasis on teamwork, flexibility, and adaptability to develop key manual and scientific skills. Productivity and efficiency are developed through training and constructive feedback to ensure a high level of quality is achieved in all aspects of the role. Our aim during the 2-year programme is to produce competent Scientific technicians with the core skills to allow them to develop a career within the company and offer an option to further progress within the Apprenticeship scheme.
What you'll receive:
You'll undertake a Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship with HNC in Applied Science over the course of 24 months.
You will study for a Level 4 Science Qualification

What are we looking for:
An A-level in Biology or Chemistry is preferred but not essential. Relevant work Experience or a level 3 science-based qualification is also beneficial.
