Laboratory Operations Manager
Salary: £52,000 - £60,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Reports to: Head of Operations
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time (35 hours per week)

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Laboratory Operations Manager to help establish and manage our new production labs based in Sandwich, Kent. In this role you will work closely with the Head of Operations to establish new production labs to ensure the continued success of the organisation.
In this role you will have responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Antibody/Cell Line production facility ensuring all production deadlines are met, whilst maintaining the highest standards of Health and Safety/Quality. You will have experience in the production of antibodies and mammalian cell line processing in a manufacturing environment, along with management experience. In the future, you will also be responsible for onboarding new technologies and processes to further develop the capabilities of the laboratory.
What will I be doing?
- Support the Head of Operations in the set up and development of the laboratory space, including the acquisition and set-up of new capital equipment, process/SOP development
- Maintain the highest standards of Health and Safety and Quality, ensuring all risk assessments and COSHH documents are in place and up to date
- Planning and execution of production processes, monitoring quality standards and ensuring schedules are achieved
- Critically review product forecasting, plans for demand and is responsible for initiating raw material procurement to fulfil production schedules and customer orders
- Asset management involving maintaining stock levels, ordering and receipt of high value consumables and maintaining key equipment
- Responsible for the inbound/outbound shipment of research tools into the organisation
- Responsible for the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing management of a small, but growing, team of technicians within the department
- Responsible for developing and delivering training materials to the laboratory team
- Support the business development and product management teams with enquiries and new business opportunities
What skills are you looking for?
- Industry experience of leading a production team in a laboratory setting
- Experience of managing and supporting the development of a team
- Experience in setting up new laboratory facilities is preferred
- Understanding of financial systems (CAPEX, inventory, and budget responsibility)
- Good knowledge of antibody and cell line material processing
- Trained in laboratory health and safety (IOSH Certified)
