Job Title: Laboratory Manager, UK
Salary: £55,000 - £75,000 DoE + Benefits
Location: Leamington Spa
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours
Your role and responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Laboratory Manager to join our growing team at Antech Diagnostics. As an operational associate, the Laboratory Manager is responsible for supervising laboratory activities across all regions of the United Kingdom. These activities include team management, technical supervision, quality control, health and safety, budget control, and general administration. You will be an ambitious self-starter with exemplary technical skills and a proven background in clinical laboratory supervision.

Our Laboratory Manager position is to be located in the Leamington Spa area with national reach. This is a full time position of 37.5 hours per week across Monday – Friday.
Key responsibilities and attributes include:
· Manage activities in a diagnostic reference laboratory, with responsibility for meeting test turnaround times and budgetary commitments
· Provide line management to team members, assigning work and evaluating performance.
· Responsible for ensuring all staff are properly trained, and for promoting staff development
· Lead work activities of the laboratory: plan workloads and ensure adequate staffing and resources to maintain test turnaround times
· Co-ordinate maintenance of laboratory diagnostic equipment and other technical resources
· Oversee the management of operational failures, ensure these are properly investigated and resolved
· Ensure laboratory buildings and infrastructure are adequately maintained
· Responsible for inventory control
· Co-ordinate with external suppliers and others as needed to resolve issues and maintain ongoing functionality.
· Ensure laboratory activities comply with health and safety policies
· Ensure quality of testing in co-operation with the Quality Team
· Contribute to contingency planning and execution and the development of the laboratory budget
· Contribute to the development of laboratory policies and procedures
· Prepare reports, presentations and other information summarising work activities
· Participate in process improvement activities
Experience required:
· Bachelor’s degree in a science discipline or other relevant subject
· A minimum of 10 years’ clinical laboratory experience, including at least 5 years releasing test results in a high throughput multi-discipline laboratory
· 5 years’ clinical laboratory supervisory experience, including managing workflows, line managing team members, and troubleshooting equipment failures
· Strong reasoning and analytical skills to resolve issues
· Appreciation of speed and urgency while keeping a high attention to detail and accuracy
· Independent and self-directed, requiring minimal day to day supervision
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
