Job description
hVIVO conducts human challenge studies offering services to both pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies using a range of different clinical trials. The end goal of our clinical trials is to potentially eradicate common illnesses like the common cold and flu completely – or at least make treatment of them as easy and effective as possible. Our studies focus on testing new treatments on real people, in a safe, controlled, clinical environment.
The Laboratory Assistant will provide the required technical support to enable the laboratory team to function effectively whilst adhering to GCP, SOP’s and health and safety guidelines.
They will assist in the maintenance of the lab, cleaning of equipment, reagent/chemical delivery tasks and preparation of smple kits.
Working hours are 5 hours per day, 0900-1400, Monday-Friday on £11/hour. You will be employed via a third party agency and not diretcly with hVIVO.
- Provide basic lab services such as general housekeeping, maintenance of equipment, stock checking, ordering consumables and aliquoting of samples/reagents;
- Operate, clean and decontaminate laboratory equipment, analytical or other instruments considered standard;
- Ensure all laboratory forms are kept up to date with the latest version. Scan and archive all laboratory forms;
- Replenish stock;
- To ensure the housekeeping chores in the laboratory for example:
- Receipt & logging of consumables and reagents.
- Downloading and filling reagent Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS);
- To ensure there is sufficient consumables and reagents available;
- Assist in maintaining sample integrity by following sample storage procedures;
- Assist with storage and tracking of samples, develop an understanding of HTA legislation;
- Production of sample kits and sample labels;
- Perform study administration task, for example laboratory forms and label production, document scanning, filing and archiving;
- Perform any other reasonable requested tasks to assist in the operational delivery of the labs;
- Assist with maintaining the laboratory equipment’s temperature control system;
- Compliance with Good Clinical Practice (labs).
- GCSE or BTEC in a Science subject
- To be able to work as a member of a team
- responsible for organising own time and resources in an optimal fashion
- Practical working knowledge of GCP standards
- Prior experience in working to GCP standards within a laboratory environment
