Have you ever thought about working for the NHS or in a laboratory setting?
We are looking to recruit a Healthcare Science (HCS) Laboratory Assistant in the Genetics Laboratories, a part of the Oxford University Hospitals NHS foundation Trust. We are hoping to recruit someone to work full time, but part time or flexible working patterns may be considered within the opening hours of the laboratory.
Laboratory assistants have a supportive role in the laboratory, but are an essential part of delivering results to patients behind the scenes in the NHS.
No Experience or special qualifications needed. All you need is a willingness to learn, good attention to detail and a practical nature, with good manual dexterity for handling specimens and their various tubes.
Day to day duties include receiving samples into the laboratory, entering data into our database, performing simple processes in the laboratory, along with basic administrative duties and laboratory housekeeping tasks, such as stock control and cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
Please include a brief covering letter with your CV telling us why you are a good fit for the position.
Benefits include:
· 27 days holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata), increasing with service
· Access to the NHS pension scheme
· Staff Discount scheme - including shops, days out, entertainment and leisure
· NHS Agenda for Change Pay scale
Full time schedule is typically rotating 8 hour shifts between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday (37.5h per week). Full-time is preferred, but part time patterns within these opening times may also be considered. If you are interested in working part time, please state this and your availability within your covering letter.
The lab is split across the John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals, but most individuals typically work at a single location, though staff may be asked to change their standard work location if required by the service.
Annual Salary: £21,730 - £23,177 per year, pro rata
