Laboratory Assistant position
£22,000–24,000/annum full-time permanent post
(part-time considered pro rata)
Job requirements:
· Routine hours: 0800–1600 h, Monday to Friday
· Late shift rota: 1300–2000 h (about 1 every 10 days)
· Part-time hours: 1000–1430 h, Monday to Friday
· Weekend overtime: occasionally required
· Starting date: as soon as possible
Responsibilities of the job holder:
· Receipt of blood, urine and other samples
· Distribute and process samples
· Support Biomedical Scientists with routine laboratory tasks
· Prepare samples for analysis
· Operate centrifuges and other laboratory equipment
· Keep accurate records of sample processing and storage
· Ensure that health and safety procedures are followed
· Daily cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas
· Carry out general laboratory cleaning, clearing and tidying duties
· Archiving as required
Personal specification:
· Live close to North West London or willing to relocate
· Maths and English GCSE passes or higher
· Have done at least 6-months’ paid work experience
· Safety awareness
· Good written and spoken communication
· Well-organised
· Dependable and trustworthy
· Flexibility over working weekends
