POSITION SCOPE
To carry out routine analysis and provide analytical data to process personnel and external bodies in a safe manner and in compliance with the quality systems. To confirm compliance with specification.
POSITION STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES AND KEY DELIVERABLES
- Provision of analytical data in compliance with all SHHEQ standards and adherence to all procedures.
- Accuracy of analysis and efficient reporting of data. Efficient safety, quality, environmental and hygiene record keeping.
- Quality and process analysis on samples representing in excess of 0.5 million tonnes of raw sugar p.a.
- Responsibility for monitoring effluent to sewer and river water. In excess of 750 effluent analyses p.a. for Thames Water.
- Responsibility for producing accurate weekly and monthly Stats reports.
- Ensuring the calibration of day work laboratory instruments on a daily basis.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- To carry out routine chemical analysis and to work as a team with other operators and laboratory staff to provide mobile, flexible and committed workforce.
- To cover when necessary the routine analysis for the shift laboratory (this may on occasion require short periods shift working) ensuring the required safety, environmental, quality, hygiene standards are met.
- To provide timely QC analysis and technical advice to an appropriate accuracy level.
- To support Sales and Marketing and provide Customer request samples on time.
- Complete projects for the benefit of various areas throughout the sugar refining process and to help support customer relations including method development.
- To understand and work within safe systems such as TBRA and Incident reporting systems.
- To carry out GMP Audits in Process/Packing areas and accompany management on Safety Audits
- To ensure clear and concise communications (verbal, written and keyboard).
- To input the data obtained accurately on to SAP/Sharepoint intranet site as appropriate, retrieve historical data and run the appropriate reports (stats) ensuring that the reports are circulated to the relevant people.
- To perform routine basic instrument maintenance and cleaning.
- To maintain the working area in a clean and tidy state.

- Good numerical and literacy skills

WORK EXPERIENCES
- Experience of working according to the requirements of ISO & BRC
- Basic knowledge of food manufacturing processes
- Practical Laboratory experience
