Role: Lab Technician / Chemist

Location: Witham, Essex

Salary Range: £21,695 - £25,933 depending on experience, plus 10% shift allowance

Shifts: 06.00 - 13.00 rotating 13.00 - 20.00

Role Purpose

Bureau Veritas is a multinational group with capabilities in an extensive range of commodities, providing independent inspection, sampling and testing services 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

As a Lab Technician / Chemist, you will perform routine testing of samples for elemental content in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures using classical and instrumental techniques within a fast-paced commercial laboratory environment.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting analysis of samples within a laboratory environment
  • Organise and deliver work as assigned by area team leader/supervisor
  • Ensure safe working practices in line with HSE policy, Risk Assessment and COSHH procedures
  • Process results and convey them to the QC team within a timely manner

What does it take to apply?

Experience required for the role is flexible, previous work in a laboratory environment would be beneficial, however roles that require a practical hands-on approach such as manufacturing or catering plus an interest in science and lab testing could be ideal.

Candidate requirements:
  • Attention to detail – able to follow precise details
  • Good communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Flexible and able to work around workload demands
  • Degree in a scientific/mathematical discipline beneficial
