About You:
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring and adjustment of chemical parameters of production equipment in the Chemical Process Area (CPA). To assist with the day-to-day testing and reporting of product prior to release to customer. Also, in-process testing to ensure customer requirements are complied with and manufacturing is conducted in line with agreed specifications and procedures. The position reports directly to the process engineer. This position requires working a day shift.
Job Purpose
- Obtain samples of various baths in the CPA and analyse them for specific chemical parameters
- Log the findings of the analysis in the laboratory database and compare the actual findings with the standard operating conditions of the bath.
- Adjust chemical parameters in baths found to be outside standard operating conditions, in line with existing process operating instructions.
- Report any anomalies in the analysis or adjustments to the process engineer.
- Carry out routine mechanical process checks according to company specifications.
- Take on responsibility for auditing and ensuring process lines are maintained to the required standards as requested by the Process Engineer
- Help carry out laboratory testing to ensure finished product meets customer specifications.
- Assist in the analysis of data generated by process checks to improves manufacturing efficiency and capability through the use of statistical process control.
- Produce stock reagent solutions, order supplies, maintain laboratory equipment and keep the area clean and tidy.
- Obtain samples of jobs at various stages of manufacture and micro-section to measure specific features & details
- Conduct mechanical testing in line with IPC and company specifications
- Inspect microsections in line with IPC requirements and log results
- Compare actual findings with the customers’ specifications and requirements
- Report anomalies to the Process Engineer
- Improve manufacturing efficiency and capability
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with the work instructions, within standard operating procedures and in line with health and Safety Regulations.
- Communicated relevant information to the Production Manager, other supervisors and the technical team where appropriate.
- Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed in a timely manner, including work sheets, process control documents, time sheets etc.
- Participate in relevant meetings within the department if required.
- Assist other departments or the process engineer as required.
Training & Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of GCSE or equivalent in chemistry and/or mathematics
- PC literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
