R&D LABORATORY MANAGER

Location: Inhaltion Product Technology Centre (IPTC)

Overview

As a Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring efficient and effective functioning of the laboratory, oversee the documentation process, managing and mentoring the analysts while promoting a culture of safety and excellence.

Your key responsibilities:

• Provide leadership, guidance and support to a team of employees.
• Responsible for managing employee relations such as absence management, the handling of disputes, grievances and disciplinary matters, and having a good understanding of the Company’s policies and procedures related to this area.
• Review and approve study protocols, reports, and standard work instructions; ensuring that all work is performed as per documented procedures.
• Coordinating with the team to maintain accurate records and providing peer review for others, to ensure analytical results are recorded and reported.
• Oversee day to day operations of the laboratory and managing upcoming projects; ensuring efficient utilisation of resources, equipment and supplies.
• Present and communicate project results and findings clearly and effectively to internal and external customers.
• Stay updated on relevant regulatory guidelines and requirements.
• Performing 5S Audits and compiling KPI data.

• The post holder will undertake their duties and responsibilities in full accordance with the Company’s Health & Safety Policy and procedures.

Development & Learning:

• The post holder will be expected to develop their understanding of new technologies by undertaking training as required.
• The post holder is responsible for ensuring the development of employees under their supervision and for undertaking the performance management of the entire team.
• Building expertise and knowledge of the testing of inhalation devices: Metered Dose Inhalers (MDIs) and Dry Powder Inhalers (DPIs) and continue the growth of department capabilities.
• Organise and moderate workshops as required in partnership with CIP team.

Education & Training:

• Should have a working knowledge of good laboratory practices.
• Ideally have experience of testing and understanding of inhalation devices.
• Should have a working knowledge of chromatography software, e.g. Chromeleon or Empower.

Key Capabilities & Skills:

• Proven experience working in a pharmaceutical or similar laboratory setting, preferably in a managerial or supervisory role.
• Experience of laboratory documentation software programmes (LIMS) and understanding of other laboratory instrumentation/ equipment software would be an added benefit.
• Understanding of analytical methods and data output.
