Work in conjunction with Medical Laboratory Scientists in the Clinical Chemistry laboratory. Performs Blood gas testing including the quality control and preventative maintenance for the instrumentation. Responsible for also helping with inventory and supply management in the Clinical Chemistry lab. Assists with other clerical and non-patient testing responsibilities.

3. Handle telephone inquiries, transfer as needed
4. Receive, accession, and process specimens in order to ensure timely reporting of results. Ensures positive patient identification
5. Perform registration in HIS as needed
6. Process reference lab testing as needed
7. Independently troubleshoot specimen-related problems
8. Assist with inventory and supply management, including supplies to others hospitals and/or customers
9. May perform testing
10. Train new employees or students
11. Maintain hardware and equipment as needed
12. Uses computer programs in laboratory and hospital based systems to ensure accurate data entry and retrieval
13. Perform other duties as needed
14. Blood bank (if applicable)
14.1 Announce MTP; assist with set up, issue, replacement of blood products
15. Microbiology (if applicable)
15.1 Understands sterile technique and best practices
16. Pathology (if applicable)
16.1 Pre-analytical specimen processing including aliquoting of specimens for additional testing
17. Point of Care (if applicable)
17.1 Assist with inventory and supply management, including supplies to other hospitals and/or customers.
18. Clinical Chemistry (if applicable)
18.1 Perform blood gas testing including quality control.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION

HS Diploma or equivalency exam

EXPERIENCE

1+ years

SPECIAL SKILLS

Excellent communication skills and customer service skills. Basic computer skills Consistently interacts with coworkers and customers in a positive manner. Cooperatively and proactively assists in other areas as needed in a teamwork oriented environment. Maintains procedure knowledge and implements all new and revised procedures in real time. Maintains all Quality Control and Quality Assurance standards at all times.
