Specimen reception deals with samples for all disciplines and provides a service for the collection of consumables, telephone result enquires, reception of specimens and computer entry of patient demographics and requests.
RESPONSIBILITY’S INCLUDE:
· Undertaking specimen reception and other duties for Pathology
· Ensuring the timely flow of all samples to the laboratory areas, whilst recognising the urgency of samples to aid patient care
· To ensure samples are sorted, prioritised and registered appropriately.
· Undertake basic sample preparation of non-urgent samples
· To undertake the transportation of samples to the appropriate laboratory.
· To undertake report form separation, sorting and posting for both hospital and GP reports.
To be successful in applying for this role you will need:
· Desirable to have knowledge and experience of a range of IT systems.
· Training will be provided for bank staff to be able to assist the department in carrying out basic duties
· Good attention to detail
· Laboratory experience in a hospital setting
· Flexible work approach
· Be a team player but also work independently
· Be time conscious and work to deadlines
· Good communicator
