We are looking for a Junior Data Scientist to be based at our Oakwood site (NG15 0DR), this position involves remote work for 4 days per week with some travel to key Yusen sites across the UK as and when required. The position holder will join the Business Intelligence team to support the business to utilise data effectively to provide high quality insights, solve problems and improve processes.
As a Junior Data Scientist, you will be responsible for analysing and modelling complex data sets, generating insights, building/maintaining machine learning models, and communicating results to stakeholders.
The position will offer a salary of up to £32K (depending on experience).

Key responsibilities:
1. Data Analysis & Modelling
a. Analyse complex data sets and build, maintain data models using latest tools and methodologies
2. Storytelling & Visualisation
a. Present compelling data insights using visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI)
b. Focus on ‘data storytelling’ to convey insights and drive actions
3. Projects
a. Support a variety of projects providing technical guidance
b. Identify business requirements and utilise data/technology proactively to support decisions and drive improvements
4. Predictive Modelling
a. Develop and maintain predictive models, applying advanced statistical and programming techniques (e.g., Python/R)
4. Relationship & Teamwork
a. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and other members of the BI Team
b. Focus on meeting commitments and providing high levels of customer service

Key requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in data analytics or STEM subject (min 2:2)
- Masters degree in data science or advanced analytics is desirable
- Previous work experience and evidence of practical application of studies/theory (e.g. through projects delivered in workplace) is desirable.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in programming languages such as Python/R
- High level of technical knowledge in data analysis, statistical modelling, and machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification)
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills
