Job description
The Surgical Materials Testing Laboratory are recruiting a physical testing laboratory assistant to work from the Princess of Wales site in Bridgend and IP5 Newport as part of the physical testing department, reporting to the Physical Technical Manager and will be performing laboratory testing of medical devices for the Welsh NHS and external clients.
The applicant will be required to undertake the sampling and testing as needed, maintain records of all documents related to laboratory testing, report any discrepancy in laboratory results and work to the laboratories ISO 17025 accreditation.
The applicant will perform investigations involving possible defective medical devices. Excellent communication skills are required due to contacting clinicians involved in the incidents.
The applicant should have good planning/organisation skills, able to accurately follow written test methods, integrate in a small team, work unsupervised with a high level of attention to detail. Experience of working in a laboratory environment, preferably to a quality system such as ISO 17025 and knowledge of medical devices and physical testing methods is desirable.
