Brief job description:

Estio Training have an exciting new opportunity for a DevOps Apprentice with Trium Capital a Financial fund company based in London.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:

  • Apprentices will join the existing technology team and will be involved in supporting users, developing an understanding of the office technology infrastructure. progression of current systems and developing new solutions.
  • Be involved in assisting traders with their technology problems. Understanding their technology problems that could range from a simple loose network cable, a PC performance issue right up to a data flow issue they need fixing for their calculations.
  • Work with the existing technology team to provide continuous system improvements and deliver new features, enhancements and functionality. Ensuring that quality standards are met and that a product delivery focused approach is applied throughout.
  • Develop software to further our product delivery objectives, creating simple, clean and well documented code.
  • Learn about the financial products we trade and how they are processed through Trium business systems.
  • Learn and understand the engineering principles that make up a financial firm’s infrastructure (networking, cloud computing, desktop PCs) and how to design solutions to meet business needs.

Qualifications:

  • 5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language)
  • You will need to have an (A Level) in Maths.

Skills & Qualities Required:

  • You will have to have the right to work in the UK and to have lived in the UK continuously for the past 3 years.
  • Must have completed A Levels or the equivalent.
  • Due to the financial elements in this role, we require the applicant to demonstrate A-Level Mathematics (or equivalent) to grade C or above. We will consider candidates where the numerical element is spread throughout their studies across multiple modules.
  • A motivation and desire to pursue a career in the respective apprenticeship qualification route.
  • Ideally a working knowledge of MS Office applications, an understanding of how spreadsheets and data packages can be used to analyse data (not essential)
  • Strong interest in financial markets.
  • Reliable, adaptable and flexible.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • “Can do” attitude, very good problem solving.
  • Willingness and desire to learn fast and acquire new skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 4 DevOps Engineer, with training in how to:

  • Write scripts and coding to meet your business’ needs.
  • Develop and deploy software and cloud infrastructure.
  • Build and operate a Continuous Integration (CI) capability.
  • Implement and improve release automation and orchestration.
  • Use security tools and techniques for software development.
  • Evolve and define IT architecture.
  • Follow test driven development and ensure appropriate coverage.
