Your role at a glance
We’re looking for undergraduates who can answer “yes” to the above for our Summer Internship Programme. You’ll join us in either the Investment Management business (LGIM) or our Capital division (LGC), gaining valuable insights over the course of the 8-week placement.
Starting Monday 3rd July, your internship will last for 8 weeks. This programme is a pipeline for our Graduate Programme (although successful completion of the Summer Programme does not guarantee that a graduate role is available).
Please note, we can only accept 1 application per person across all of our intern programmes and you can only be considered for a role within LGIM or LGC. Therefore, please think carefully about the programme you intend to apply for. Your first application will be considered as your only application.
What you'll be doing
- Shadow and work with the senior team to liaise with our subsidiary businesses and senior stakeholders to ensure communications are in line with Legal & General’s broader messaging and we are meeting our corporate objectives.
- To support on execution of external communications strategies, you will take a role in drafting press releases and reviewing measurement.
- Help to produce written materials in the form of press releases, award submissions, case studies, speeches and presentations.
- Lead on the set up of a brand new monitoring platform to support the senior team in its activities
- Monitor forward features and the news agenda across key publications.
- Support for brand strategy, positioning, messaging and design.
- Provide support for an events programme comprising in-person, virtual and hybrid events, including press events and specialist industry, client and L&G conferences.
- With our internal communications team, support structured, proactive and two-way communications across the LGC or LGIM business through email, video, townhalls and other events.
- Work closely throughout our Marketing and Communications teams to provide administrative support and ensure all activities are aligned and maximised across multiple channels, including proactive and reactive social media channels.

We’re not expecting prior industry experience, but we’ll want to see that you have the tools to develop quickly. These include:
- 2:1 Degree (any discipline); however a degree in marketing or communications or a related field would be advantageous)
- You will be in your penultimate year of University (i.e. graduating in 2024)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong attention to detail
- Analytical mind-set
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively; you are someone who thrives in a fast paced environment
- Flexible and a team-player
- Curiosity and an eagerness to learn
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Ideally you will have a passion for the news, the written word and bring a creative approach; able to deliver concise and responsive communications activities in line with the company’s wider strategy.
The role will be based in London and will involve a flexible working approach whereby you split your time between working from home and the office.
