About the Role
Full-time: 40hrs per week
Office-Based: THG ICON Campus, Altrincham, Greater Manchester & THG Omega site, Warrington, Cheshire
THG is seeking a passionate and experienced L&D Manager to join our HR team, providing support to the distribution and warehousing areas of our business at THG Icon Campus in Altrincham, Greater Manchester, and the THG Omega site in Warrington, Cheshire. Reporting to the Head of People - UK Operations, you will play a crucial role in driving the learning and development initiatives within our organization. You will support the people strategy and operational requirements, focusing on skills development, design, and projects. Our vision is to provide effective, safe, and quality learning interventions that empower our employees to excel in their current roles and prepare for future growth within THG.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by helping employees learn and grow. Strong communication skills and a proven track record in designing e-learning courses and managing budgets are essential for success in this role.
Role Requirements
To be considered for this role you should have the following Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as an L&D Manager, Training Manager, or similar role within a blue-collar environment.
- Current knowledge of effective learning and development methods.
- Proficiency in designing training using a range of methods, including e-learning and classroom-based training.
- Experience in project management and budgeting.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a sharp business acumen.
- Ability to build rapport with employees and vendors.
- Degree in Psychology, HR, or a related field.
- L&D Qualification level 3 and above desired but not essential.
- Positive and flexible attitude - occasional evening/weekend inductions may be required.
- Willingness to work at both locations - Manchester and Warrington.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage & develop a team of L&D Specialists and L&D Coordinators
- Lead and cultivate a team of L&D Specialists and Coordinators, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to establish a comprehensive site-specific L&D strategy that encompasses all levels of the organization.
- Drive the implementation of the L&D strategy, ensuring its successful execution.
- Strategically plan and design innovative and captivating learning interventions.
- Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of learning events, using insights to continuously enhance the learning experience.
- Develop and deliver career progression programs to support the growth and advancement of colleagues.
- Create, monitor, and execute customized succession plans tailored to individual and organizational needs.
- Collaborate closely with the People Project team to design, plan, and implement learning activities aligned with various projects, including Learning Needs Analysis, Operational Graduate Programs, Mentorship Schemes, and Personal Development Plans for Managers and Colleagues.
- Utilize data analysis provided by L&D Coordinators to identify areas for improvement and drive enhancements within the department.
- Support and facilitate the delivery of Peak Plans for Operations.
- Ensure compliance and maintain audit readiness across the site.
- Track the performance of new starters, providing recommendations for improved efficiency and support opportunities.
- Foster alignment and knowledge sharing across L&D departments in various UK sites, promoting best practices.
- Coach and develop operational managers and colleagues, fostering their professional growth and success.
- Establish strong working relationships with operational stakeholders.
- Provide people analytics on L&D Metrics, offering insights and identifying opportunities for operational enhancement.
