A Back-of-House Working Day At Kanada-Ya:
A typical day in the Kitchen begins at 10am, everything is cleaned and made ready for a busy service. There is delicious chashu pork to slice, crisp fresh vegetables to prepare and rich ramen broths to boil. At around 11.30 all the staff will meet to taste the menu and to discuss the day’s activities. At 12 the doors are opened and the line of customers that has formed will be greeted, seated and their orders taken. Sides and main dishes are cooked to order, fresh ingredients are prepared and the dishwasher is kept busy throughout the active service. Breaks begin at 3pm, choose anything you fancy from the menu for your lunch or work with the other chefs to prepare something flavourful for the whole team. Meals on duty are free of charge. Service winds up at 10pm and the team will close the kitchen and make everything shiny and hygienic ready for the next day's action. Time flies!
Working on shift with us you will:
- Prepare ingredients & meals to company specifications.
- Take pride in keeping the premises organised & clean.
- Work within the company’s food hygiene and health and safety procedures.
- Enjoy being part of a friendly & cooperative team.
- Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Take an interest in Japanese food & culture.
Once you’ve joined, if you then decide you’d like to develop your career with us, there are lots of opportunities – most of our Head Chefs joined us as Chefs and they can earn well over £35k per annum.
